HAVE YOU EVER ENCOUNTERED LEVIATHAN?
Leviathan is yet another demonic spirit that is lurking in our world today. The Hebrew word for Leviathan is “livyathan” and this translation means “sea monster.” Many believe that Leviathan could have been an extinct dinosaur and there are even theories that Leviathan was a whale, shark, or a lizard.
All I know is that Leviathan was very real and its spirit is here trying to bring Christians down in our world today.
I have kind of made my own theory as to what Leviathan may have been…
It is told to us in scripture the exact description of this beast, known as Leviathan, and the attributes of this evil spirit remind me of a crocodile. I am not saying that this is what Leviathan was, I am only giving this example so you can too imagine just how dangerous it was. We are told that it was a sea creature that coiled and glided like a serpent, but if you dig deep into the word of God, you will find that early snakes or serpents also had legs. God cursed the serpent in the Garden of Eden and therefore, snakes now slither on their bellies…
Genesis 3:14 (NIV)
14 So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this,
“Cursed are you above all livestock
and all wild animals!
You will crawl on your belly
and you will eat dust
all the days of your life.
Crocodiles will coil themselves against prey, glide on top of the water and also are able to attack in water and on land. They are very dangerous reptiles…
Now, like I said, this is what I think of when someone says “LEVIATHAN,” you can draw your own conclusions on what kind of beast you feel that it may have been. The important thing is to know the characteristics of the beast that is trying to coil up next to you, your friends, your family members and those that you love.
THESE ARE ALL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LEVIATHAN SPIRIT
There are several scriptures in which you can read about Leviathan in the Holy Bible.
Job 40:12(NIV)- look at all who are proud and humble them, crush the wicked where they stand.
Job 41 (NIV) 41 “Can you pull in Leviathan with a fishhook or tie down its tongue with a rope?2 Can you put a cord through its nose or pierce its jaw with a hook?3 Will it keep begging you for mercy? Will it speak to you with gentle words?4 Will it make an agreement with you for you to take it as your slave for life?5 Can you make a pet of it like a bird or put it on a leash for the young women in your house?6 Will traders barter for it? Will they divide it up among the merchants?7 Can you fill its hide with harpoons or its head with fishing spears?8 If you lay a hand on it, you will remember the struggle and never do it again!9 Any hope of subduing it is false; the mere sight of it is overpowering.10 No one is fierce enough to rouse it. Who then is able to stand against me?11 Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me. 12 “I will not fail to speak of Leviathan’s limbs, its strength and its graceful form.13 Who can strip off its outer coat? Who can penetrate its double coat of armor[b]?14 Who dares open the doors of its mouth, ringed about with fearsome teeth?15 Its back has[c] rows of shields tightly sealed together;16 each is so close to the next that no air can pass between.17 They are joined fast to one another; they cling together and cannot be parted.18 Its snorting throws out flashes of light; its eyes are like the rays of dawn.19 Flames stream from its mouth; sparks of fire shoot out.20 Smoke pours from its nostrils as from a boiling pot over burning reeds.21 Its breath sets coals ablaze, and flames dart from its mouth.22 Strength resides in its neck; dismay goes before it.23 The folds of its flesh are tightly joined; they are firm and immovable.24 Its chest is hard as rock, hard as a lower millstone.25 When it rises up, the mighty are terrified; they retreat before its thrashing.26 The sword that reaches it has no effect, nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin.27 Iron it treats like straw and bronze like rotten wood.28 Arrows do not make it flee; slingstones are like chaff to it.29 A club seems to it but a piece of straw; it laughs at the rattling of the lance.30 Its undersides are jagged potsherds, leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge.31 It makes the depths churn like a boiling caldron and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment.32 It leaves a glistening wake behind it; one would think the deep had white hair.33 Nothing on earth is its equal— a creature without fear.34 It looks down on all that are haughty; it is king over all that are proud.”
The LEVIATHAN SPIRIT is a Holy Spirit blocker. If you are full of pride, then all of the other characteristics of leviathan trickle down from the root cause, which is the spirit of pride. Pride causes destruction and it is actually a curse upon yourself.
The Holy Spirit wants to work through you, but when you are arrogant, haughty, prideful, full of yourself and have the “I am better than everyone else” attitude, it blocks what the Holy Spirit wants to do in and through you.
As we have read in Job, Leviathan was bound by all of these characteristics through his scales. But do you think for a second that God was afraid?
HECK NO HE WASN’T!!
Leviathan may have been strong and ferocious, but nothing compares to our God!
22 But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up his plunder.
Leviathan is a strong spirit whose armor must be stripped off!
“THERE IS NOTHING TOO POWERFUL FOR OUR GOD!”
Every evil spirit has one agenda and that is to tear you down so far that you will eventually turn away from God. We all need to be praying for discernment of spirits! Discernment will allow you to detect when these evil spirits are around you or even in you. (Yes, you may even have to rebuke things from yourself. ) I know that some of this may sound crazy, so I urge you to not just take my word for it but read the word of God yourself.
The keys to removing these types of spirits are as follows :
- PRAYER FOR DELIVERANCE
- READING YOUR WORD
- DISCERNING SPIRITS
- WORSHIPPING GOD
- SPEAKING AGAINST THESE SPIRITS WITH THE POWER & AUTHORITY GIVEN TO YOU BY GOD (Luke 10:19)
- ALLOWING GOD TO SPEAK TO YOU & GUIDE YOUR FOOTSTEPS
16 There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
BEWARE OF THE LEVIATHAN SPIRIT!
God is always speaking, you just have to be listening…..
