7 Ways To Be A Woman After God’s Own Heart…

I no longer want to be a follower of the crowd

I no longer chase after the things of this world

I no longer look at people around me for answers to my problems

I no longer have the urge to please everyone around me

I no longer lust after material things or common goods

I no longer hold onto hurts from my past

I no longer worry about my future

Romans 12:2(NIV)

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

~We are not called to fit in, we are called to be set apart and when you decide to change your mindset from a physical worldview to a spiritual worldview, you will begin to have the desire to please God and not man.

~Small changes can be made each day that will change your worldview.

~Run after God and he will make every crooked path straight. Decide today to be…

7 Ways To Be A Woman After God’s Own Heart

1.  You refresh and renew your relationship with God each and every day.

      2. Pray to God and ask him to help you to walk by faith and not by sight.

       3. Read the word of God, even if you only ponder on one scripture a day, that one scripture will change your life.

       4. Apply the word of God to every situation that you are facing. The Bible has the answers to every worldly problem.

       5. Speak positive affirmations over yourself and others each day.

      6. Don’t sweat the small stuff. This day and time we allow everything to get to us. As soon as you begin to get upset about something, stop, take a deep breath, count to 10, and ask God to remove the offense or worry from you.

     7. Allow God to fill the voids in your life and carry the weight of your burdens by laying your life down at his feet.

I run after you Oh, God, I am running to your heart

I run after you Oh, God, to be a woman set apart

I run after you Oh, God, along this long dark path

I run after you, Oh, God, away from Satan’s wrath

I run after you, Oh, God, toward a brand new start

I run after you, Oh, God, to be a woman after your heart

The Path..

K.D. Russell

Pieces of me keep falling through the cracks. As I try to move forward, I immediately travel five or more steps back.

It begins to become so very clear that I am not in control of things I hold so very dear.

More and more each day I begin to rely on your narrow way.

Walking blindly along this long path, I trust you, God, to protect me from Satan’s wrath…

For you hold the whole world in your hands and shine your light upon this weary lost land.

Give me the hope to travel and reach so far, to always to look toward you, the bright and morning star.

Trust in God to walk beside you each day. Take his hand and let him lead you into greatness.

Your Journey Awaits!

She Believed She Could So She Did….

Do you recall those dreams you had as a little girl?

The dreams to grow up and become a ballerina or maybe even something along the lines of a doctor or lawyer? Did you ever stop and think then that those dreams were not possible?

Of course not!

When you were younger anything seemed possible, am I right? You didn’t let others define “who you were” or “who you wanted to be!” Opinions did not matter and you truly believed in “yourself.”

You wore what you wanted to wear and you walked with your head held high and you dreamed, you imagined, you had ideas and you were carefree. You would look in the mirror and cherish your freckles and you knew you were beautiful just the way God made you…..

I have been reflecting on my much younger self here lately, looking, pondering and wondering where that carefree girl is…

I have been desperately trying for the life of me to figure out why I have let the dreams that I held so dear to my heart.. lay dormant.

That little strawberry blonde haired girl is still me, even though over the years I have changed a bit of course.

But she is still me…

Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, sitting, child and closeup

I have decided that it is the time that we look deep inside of ourselves and pull that “little girl” that we used to be out. We need to start believing in ourselves again and not letting anyone stop us from becoming what we have dreamed of being.

It is never too late to start something new, make a change and be “who you are” and not who others want you to be.

You don’t need negative Nancy’s or Debbie downers in your life!!

There is no such thing as silly dreams and there is not anything that you can not accomplish.

Look in the mirror and love your beautiful self

The only one stopping you from being you is….YOU!!

The opinions of others do not MATTER!!

You…do..you, boo-boo!

So let’s make a promise to our “adult-selves” to never stop dreaming, let that little girl out and let your wings fly.

~We need to be brave, bold and beautiful by embracing our unique selves~

I am going to do this for me, I believe I can and I will!

Not Today, Satan, Not Today!

Many of us have heard this phrase a thousand times, but how many of those times have we actually spoke those words ourselves into existence?

Do you wake up in a foul mood, speak negative thoughts about yourself or maybe your children or spouse?

Do you head off on your morning commute dwelling on all the things that are in front of you that you can not control?

Do you get to work and fuss about how bad your day has been and how it could not possibly get any better?

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 18:21 that the tongue has the power of life and death. That means that we can either bless or curse our whole day by what we actually speak.

Proverbs 18:21(NIV) The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Every single day we make choices. Everyday satan will try his very best to ruin your day. He will fight you and he can win if you allow him to.

You have the choice to speak LIFE or DEATH into every situation that arises throughout your day.

Satan comes only to steal, kill and destroy us. (John 10:10)

But we can fight him off!

Instead of accepting that you are having a bad day, speak life into your day!

Tell Satan that he has NO authority over you!

Do you know you can win against Satan if you choose not to play his little game?

As soon as he starts creeping negative thoughts into your mind, be a game changer!

“Postive speaking game changers”

Today I choose JOY!

Today I choose PEACE!

Today I choose LOVE!

Today I choose PRAISE!

Today I choose LIFE!

Today I choose to WALK BY FAITH & NOT BY SIGHT!

Psalm 118:24(NIV)

 The Lord has done it this very day;
let us rejoice today and be glad.

Be a game changer and speak life into your day! Do not dwell on what is in front of you, because God is already there making a way for you to win.

~Let us pray~

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you today asking for you to help us to be “game changers.” Help us to fight off all of the negative thoughts that are meant to ruin our day. Guard our tongues and help us to speak LIFE and not Death into our daily lives. Forgive us when we fail you, in Jesus name we pray…AMEN

God promises in his word to grant us restoration. He is faithful to give you everything that you ask for in prayer as long as you believe.

Throwing Off The Mask…

I truly believe that every single person has a story to tell. Not the story that you pretend to be a part of or the mask that you share with the world. But the pure, raw and unique story that you, like me, decide to hide.

We all have flaws, imperfections and things that we flat out do not like to flaunt about ourselves. My goal in starting this blog is to inspire each person that decides to read, to embrace what makes you, you! Stop hiding from the world because you feel as if you have nothing to give.

Struggles that we face, experiences that we go through, need to be shared!

Life is tough and so many times I myself have even wanted to give up.

There I said it..

I never actually thought that was possible for someone who claims to be a Christian, which I am, but life just gets you down sometimes.

I had an epiphany a few weeks ago while fishing with my children. I have two wonderful children, a girl, and a boy and we have just recently begun exploring the joys of fishing. My husband and I have awesome memories as children fishing with our families and we just decided one day that it was time to make the same memories with our own kiddos.

It dawned on me after casting out my rod, that I was a lot like a bobber….

I was being tossed into the deep lake of life and like a bobber, I could not seem to keep my head above the water. It was as though every single day I was being bitten like a worm on the end of a hook and pulled under from attacks from the enemy. I was hiding from family and very close friends my true self. All the emotions that had been built up from past and present situations that were out of my control, I buried deep within.

I would walk around with my big ole’ fake smile like my life was perfect and it is so far from that.

I needed to stop hiding…

I needed to remove the mask that I had placed upon myself to seem as though I had everything all figured out.

The good, the bad and the ugly parts of me I began to share with my Sunday school class. I teach high school teenagers every week at my local church. Stepping out of my comfort zone and sharing my struggles with my class, has not only opened doors for them to share their struggles, but it has changed my life as well.

Just like most wives and mothers, we compare ourselves so much to each other, that we are afraid to share what makes us vulnerable.

We like to seem as though we have it all together. I, for one, will boldly shout that I am a hot mess 90% of the time. I wing it, everything that is.

God spoke so clearly to me about writing and starting this blog. No, I am not the best writer and I will never be, but I feel that each day I need to try and give inspiration to a dying world.

I want to give hope to the hopeless and share what God lays on my heart each and every day.

Someone needs to know that it’s ok to be a mess and that it is ok that you do not have all the answers.  You have no idea how many people that may be crying out for just one person to accept them for who they are.

We are all fearfully and wonderfully made in God’s perfect image! (Psalm 139:14)

Somewhere out in the world today someone has either gone through, is currently going through, or about to go through the same kind of storms you have been through.

There is no reason to hide any longer…

Always remember that you are never alone! We have all worn “masks” to cover up who we really are. I know that the mundane of life can even bring you down. As a wife and a mother to a 12-year-old and 8-year- old, I totally understand that we all wear many hats and sometimes we feel like our day to day lives have no meaning.

But I am here to beg the differ. Keep on keeping on, shine that light from within, throw that mask off and just be you!

Embrace your beautiful self….

Love who God created you to be…

Step out today and throw that mask away….

Feel free to leave some feedback below 🙂

Be blessed!

As I Walk Through The Valley…

Some of my most favorite things about King David was his vulnerability, realness, faithfulness, bravery, boldness, and his willingness to be who God created him to be. When he wrote Psalms, he wrote it from the depths of his heart with pure intent. David was real….David felt so much love for God, even though his life was not perfect.

David fought Goliath, the uncircumcised Philistine Giant, with only a stone and a sling and he won!
David fought bears and lions using only his bare hands and once again he won the battles in front of him!
Each of these “experiences” molded David into who he was called to be.

Psalm 23 (NIV)

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
    he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord

~David was not called a man after God’s own heart because of his success in winning the battles nor was it the times that he failed God, it was his persistent trust in God despite the circumstances or the deepest darkest valleys that he walked through.

~David was a winner because he trusted God at all times and in all situations. Even though he walked through the darkest valley, he had no fear because God was always with him.

~God does not promise that you won’t walk through deep, dark valleys, but he does promise that he will always be with you.

~God promises to lead and guide you along the still waters, he promises to never leave you or forsake you during your battles.
~God is a present help in time of need and with God on your side…your battles will be won!
Will you allow God to walk beside you and guide you through your valley today?

Walking Through The Right Door…

How do you learn to trust GOD?

How do you learn to take a leap of faith and walk through the door that God has provided for you?

The door that will lead you into greatness… The door that was made specifically for you….the door that holds the key to unlock your future.

God is none other than the God of our PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE.

He is above ALL things and he will never let us down, so why is it so hard to trust him?

This scripture tells us that God has plans for each of us!

Plans to prosper us and not harm us.

We allow our carnal flesh to take over and tell us that we can control any situation on our own, our own way, and in our own time.

Am I right or am I right?

But that just is not true. If we try to do everything on our own without God, we will walk through the wrong door. We will run back through the door to the things that were holding us down and harming us, all because that is the easy door to choose.

The devil wants you to try and take care of everything on your own because he is manipulating you into believing that you can’t get out of the situation that you are in. He wants to keep you feeling sad, lonely, defeated, depressed, suicidal, anxious, fearful, and powerless!

If you are feeling this way…the devil has you right where he wants you!

If you are not relying on God to take care of your circumstances that are beyond your control, then you are simply listening to the evil one and walking alone through the wrong door.

All of those negative feelings are not from God and they will eventually destroy you…

The conniving devil is controlling your mind and therefore you will not walk through the “right” door if you continue to let him control your life and not God!

You have to fight the devil off with the weapons given to us by God…

~Each day you have to refresh and renew your relationship with God.

~You have to study  and read his word each and every day

~You have to spend intimate time with him soaking in his presence

~You have to speak against the things of the world that try to get you down.

~You have to praise him for all that he has done for you!

~You have to remove yourself from things that are keeping you away from God. (AKA “idols” in your life)

Anything that you are putting before God is an idol and it needs to be removed.

The only way that you will be able to walk through the right door is if you relinquish full control over your life to God.

He has control over all things and he wants to give you rest from all of your burdens…

MATTHEW 11:28-“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (NIV)

Until you give everything to God, you will continue to be full of misery and your circumstance WILL NOT CHANGE!

God is calling you to walk through the right door.

Are you going to take that leap of faith, grab his hand and walk through with him today?

Stay Salty And Burn Bright…

Matthew 5:13-16 (NIV)

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Jesus spoke these words when he was teaching a Sermon on the Mount, it was one of his main teachings on morality and discipleship. The general theme written in Matthew 5 is Jesus’ expectations for his disciples.

The Sermon on the Mount is the longest continuous section of Jesus himself speaking found in the New Testament. That is the reason those areas of the Bible are written in red.

Those written words were spoken by Jesus himself.

Disciple means “follower” and we are all called to be disciples of Christ.

God has given each of us the ability to learn about the things of faith, to be disciples and he has given us instructions on how to lead others to Christ.

So the same words Jesus spoke to his disciples still apply to us today.

When we break down the scripture in Matthew we first see that we are called to be SALT.

What exactly is Jesus meaning by salt?

Salt is used to season food and it enhances the flavor of the food we eat. It was also used back in the day to keep food fresh when there was not any refrigeration.

So the way I take that statement is that just like Salt “seasons” food and enhances the flavor, the followers of Christ stand out as those who “enhance” the flavor of life in this world.

Christians, living under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and in obedience to Christ, will influence the world for good, as salt has a positive influence on the flavor of the food it seasons.

You and I, as Christians, are to be like the salt of the earth because our lives enhance and give meaning to this existence we call life.

Salt stops corruption and decay….

Salt stimulates thirst…

People will thirst for the word of God when they realize that they can not get by in this world without it.

Just like salt makes us thirsty…we should be thirsty to share God’s word with others.

The question Jesus asked, however, is “What good is salt if it has lost its flavor?”

Jesus is saying that if a Christian has lost his or her passion or enjoyment, then what’s the difference between them now and who they once were?

The answer is… little to no difference.

Secondly, we are called to be LIGHT.

Light is the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible.

My first thought while studying these verses on light made me think about a “lighthouse.”

I know that the purpose of a lighthouse is to guide ships in the dark or to alert ships of dangerous waters.

Just as “lighthouses” lead and guide by shining their lights, we are called to do the same.

That light should lead and guide you and others through dark places and through dangerous waters.

Jesus is the light that is inside of us. His marvelous light will shine in and through us if we are true disciples that long to live for him.

Jesus said, “Let your light shine before others” (Matthew 5:16).

He explained that no one lights a lamp just to hide it under a basket. A lamp is meant to be placed on a stand to give light to everything around it.

Do not dim your light or be ashamed of the light that burns so brightly inside of you. Share it with the WORLD!!

Is anyone thirsty for Christ because of your words?

Are you showing HIS light to a dying world?

Always remember…

Stay Salty & Burn bright!

Be blessed!

Encouragement For Today..

Just offering some encouragement today!

Isaiah 40:31~

but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Psalms 91~

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
    and show him my salvation.”

 Psalms 121~

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

Be blessed!
